Smoking Ban in Social Housing

Kirkland lake has introduced a smoking ban in and around social housing developments with overwhelming support from current tenants. Many municipalities around the province have introduced, or are considering introducing, this type of smoking ban. Does anyone have experience with implementing such an initiative? Access to Free Bupropion and Varenicline

For those of you who have clients that would like to try Zyban or Champix to assist in their quit attempt but cannot afford the cost, CAMH is currently enrolling particpants into an internet based study to examine the real-world effectiveness of these medications with regard to smoking cessation.


Results of a study looking at text messaging as a smoking cessation aid were released last week in The American Journal of Preventive Medicine. The study examined the effect of a text-based cessation intervention in the United States called "Text2Quit". Although more research is required, results of the study found that by the trial's end 11% of patricipants in the texting group were tobacco-free versus 5% in the group who received self-help material alone.
