There was a project in Kitchener Waterloo area called Advancing and Leveraging the Investment Value of EMRs (ALIVE). This project was coordinated by KW Center for Family Medicine and a number of FHTs and other clinics took part in this project. The goal of ALIVE project was to demonstrate how the standardization of data will help a practice, such as all provider putting same diagnostic codes across the board.

Privacy and Security - Today's webinar session

Today Connie Wood, one of our Nurse Peer Leaders presented a webinar about EMR privacy and security. She provided an overview of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and talked about our responsibility as care providers to secure and protect our patients’ health information.

EMR Every Step Conference

Last week I attended the EMR conference hosted by OntarioMD. It gave me a chance to talk to various vendors and ask questions on optimizing the EMR's usage. One thing I learned relevant to preventative care is how some EMR's can link billing to the preventative care trigger. My workplace was most interested in this and is now in the process of determining if it can be done with our system . In networking with other participants I heard people say how they were learning more about funding eligibility and were pleased to hear about the support that OntarioMD offers.
